becoming latifah by Zaina Alsous

becoming latifah

i will plant you
like my mother
Amina

i will plant you
seeds of intifada
i will plant you
so my daughters can live
and grow daughters that live

do you know the way
to prepare zaytoun
nestled in their essence
i learned in a past life

i will plant you a bridge
home
a memory
home
we will forget
home

as i plant you
i will wonder if
all our people know
is living after endings
