(but she didn’t recognize me.)

her hands were warm & calloused & she kissed me on the cheek with chapped lips.

i met zeus in my best friend’s apartment. he was sprawled out on their couch.

for a moment, i thought he was dead.

for a moment, we all did.

she was missing teeth and her eyes were wrinkled around the edges.

she was buying matches and a gallon of water.

she kissed me on the cheek and i woke up in a white apartment.

empty, abandoned, by myself,

i met god in a convenience store.

she didn’t recognize me.

but then again, who does?

who does?
