Untitled by Joshua Haynesworth

her veins, they resemble
the stems and vines of
trees that have witnessed
many passing moons
and bitter suns.
i obtained nourishment
exchanging foreign
techniques from the
secrets hidden
within the saliva of
her native tongue.
she allowed me to taste
and to feed on the nutrients
of ancients from the depths
of her forbidden jungle.
with a soul at last quenched;
a yearning heart now
revitalized; i am, at long last,
prone to truth.
