“My photos meditate on the idea of what it is to exist. Through photography, I explore daily interactions with other people and the objects all around. My eye gravitates toward those small moments in time which would otherwise go unnoticed and eventually forgotten.  I seek to capture and keep, these beautiful and graceful coincidences of life to fully bring them justice.”

Monique Islam is a Mexican/Bangladeshi-American artist living in the Bay Area. She grew up in East Los Angeles and has received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art from UC-Santa Cruz. You can find her on tumblr and view more of her work on her website.
